Ingrid MongBank of America Intern, Summer 2011 - ContactIngrid Mong is a 2011 graduate of Clear Lake High School and will be attending Rice University in the fall. Ms. Mong is still deciding on a major, but leaning towards Math and Business (Statistics, Economic Analysis and/or Business Management). While at Clear Lake High School, she was president of various clubs including the American Red Cross chapter at her school, Japanese Club and Videography Club. She also was in the Honors Society, the Stanford Network Alliance, and the Nanotech Club. She had a brief stint as a manager for a Chinese restaurant and tutored Chinese to fellow students. While she lived most of her life in Houston, she did spend the 5th grade in Shanghai, China. Juan HernandezIntern, Summer 2011 - ContactJuan Hernandez is no stranger to the Houston A+ Challenge network. In 2009, he was one of five students nationally to be awarded the Leonore Annenberg College Scholarship by The Annenberg Foundation (the original funder of Houston A+ Challenge). Currently a second-year sociology major at Rice University, Mr. Hernandez is an alumnus of Houston ISD's Reagan High School, where he graduated third in his class with a GPA of 3.5 and was a member of the National Honors Society. Currently he is involved in student clubs like the Hispanic Association for Cultural Enrichment at Rice (HACER) and the school's Habitat for Humanity student chapter. His future plans include attending graduate school for sociology. click here to read more |

Kelcey McClatchieBank of America Intern, Summer 2011 - ContactKelcey McClatchie graduated from Westside High School in 2011, and this fall will enroll at the University of Alabama, majoring in Accounting and minoring in Information Systems. At Houston ISD's Westside High, she was involved in several student clubs including Business Professionals of America (as Treasurer and through a state competition), Best Buddies (where students help special needs students feel acclimated), and Black Student Union. She received a Principal's Award at Westside High and was on the Varsity Track team. Though she has resided mainly in Houston, Ms. McClatchie has also lived Fountain City, IN, for a year and Coushatta, LA, for two years, and says Savannah, GA, is her favorite place to visit. click here to read more |

MarySunny McCoyEducation Pioneers Intern, Summer 2011 - ContactMarySunny McCoy comes to Houston A+ Challenge by way of Education Pioneers. This summer, the former Peace Corps volunteer is working on projects including the development of a student tracking system and grant writing in support of the Challenge Network. Ms. McCoy graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in civil engineering and currently is studying for her MBA at Yale University. She hails from Baton Rouge, LA, and is involved in coordinating a conference for Yale's education club. She cites her biggest accomplishment as hosting three girls empowerment seminars while volunteering in Tanzania. click here to read more |

Renita MillerEducation Pioneers Intern, Summer 2011 - ContactRenita Miller comes to Houston A+ Challenge by way of Education Pioneers, as an intern working on a data research project for the Public Education Network (Houston A+ Challenge's national affiliate) and a program evaluation for the Region 4 Principal Academy. Ms. Miller graduated from Baylor University with a bachelors in Business Administration and a masters of Political Science in Education Policy from Rice University, where she is currently finishing her doctorate dissertation in Political Science, titled "Committee deliberation in Texas legislature among minority state representatives". The native Houstonian has previously worked as a lecturer and researcher at Rice University, a representative and district trainer for a pharmaceutical company, and was president of her own consultant company. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and cites her education and her family as her personal accomplishments. click here to read more |
