Tips To Create Successful Teacher Extern Sponsor Work plans

  • Extern Week Schedule: Monday, June 4 – Friday, June 8.
Please note that teacher externs begin their job shadowing Monday afternoon following the kickoff breakfast and finish Friday at noon to arrive at the appreciation luncheon.
  • Please consider setting time aside for teachers to journal and reflect on their experiences.
  • State a learning objective for each day
Example: The extern will know the knowledge and skills required for success in our firm.
Example: The extern will learn about various career opportunities in our company.
  • Focus on how your teacher can participate in hands on work that also leverages existing work.
Example: In one company teachers participated in a focus group that saved the firm $25,000.
  • Access existing work plans from previous years to assist in tailoring one to fit your needs.
  • Review teacher final reports from previous years. These reports will provide insight on activities that proved successful for both company and teacher.
  • Ask your teacher about their learning objectives. Begin communicating as early as possible with your teacher to find out what their needs are.
