Stephanie Sandifer
Our Office
Stephanie Sandifer joined Houston A+ Challenge in August 2011. Her work focuses on increasing adult capacity with "connected learning" across the entire Challenge Network. Stephanie is an educator, consultant, and author with more than 20 years of experience as a teacher and administrator, and she currently teaches online courses in general pre-service teacher education, art, and humanities at the college level.
Her teaching experience includes traditional brick-and-mortar schools at the K-12 and college levels, blended learning environments at the high school level, and 100% online environments at the college level. Her work in the classroom has always included the use of emerging technologies with a focus on student-centered learning. She has also served in a variety of leadership roles as a Literacy Coach, School Improvement Facilitator, Dean of Instruction, and Curriculum Specialist during her 10 year career with the Houston Independent School District. As a School Improvement Facilitator and Dean of Instruction she was directly involved in leading comprehensive school reform initiatives at two inner-city high schools in the city of Houston.
As an educator who enjoys sharing and learning with colleagues, Stephanie began exploring the use of blogging as a tool for connecting, collaborating, and communicating with others in March of 2006 when she launched the Change Agency blog. From there she has explored the use of wikis, social networking, and other Web 2.0 tools to develop a global Personal Learning Network of hundreds of other educators who share her curiosity and passion for learning. She is also a contributing blogger at the Education Week blog LeaderTalk.
Stephanie is the author of the books Wikis for School Leaders (Eye on Education, 2011) and Wikified Schools (Wakefield Publishing, 2009), and has co-authored a chapter on the use of wikis in What School Leaders Need to Know About Digital Technologies and Social Media (Jossey-Bass, 2011.)
