“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” – John Dewey
Christopher Wood comes to Houston A+ Challenge with eight years of teaching and six years of administrative work. He received his B.S. in Secondary Education from Buffalo State College and his Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. The son of a teacher, Christopher was drawn to the profession and began his career in 1995 teaching English at Milby High School where he coached girls' soccer, sponsored the school’s literary magazine, and was nominated Teacher of the Year in 2000. He then spent three years as a reading specialist and supervisor in the East District of Houston ISD before becoming an Assistant Principal at Edison Middle School and Chavez High School. Along the way, Christopher learned Spanish in order to better communicate with his student and parent community. Drawn to school leadership, Christopher hopes to continue to teach and to “help create a school culture that conveys respect for all students and values academic and emotional growth.”
