Waymond Ervin, the son of an educator, has spent the past two years as an administrator and academic coach at Marshall Middle School in Houston ISD. For four years prior, Waymond was a classroom teacher at Holland Middle School, where he was selected as Teacher of the Year in 2005. He began his career with the belief that he could make a difference in the lives of children by teaching, coaching and mentoring. He holds a bachelor’s degree in information systems from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in education administration from Prairie View A&M University. Waymond is a Dallas native, who says his participation in the Houston A+ Challenge Regional Principal Leadership Academy will allow him to “make a larger impact on student achievement and teacher development” by “continuing my own development as a leader for the ever-changing 21st century schools.”
