“This is the mountain that you were born to climb.”
– Encouragement from a colleague early on in Reginald’s public education career
Reginald Fisher launched his career as an educator in 1991, after spending five years working for Allstate Insurance Company in various capacities. “I had an epiphany and realized that I wanted to dedicate my life to public service,” he says of his decision to join the Teach for America – Houston corps as a charter member. He worked as a teacher intern at Parker Elementary School in Los Angeles, before coming to Houston ISD, where he has served for the past 17 years. Reginald taught at Clifton Middle School before moving to Woodson Middle School, where he served as a classroom teacher (earning the title of Woodson Teacher of the Year), mathematics department chair, mathematics coordinator and, most recently, assistant principal. He has served the Houston ISD as a workshop designer/presenter, a curriculum writer and the inaugural host of the Houston ISD After-School Math Show. He is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and the Houston Association of School Administrators. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Marquette University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) and a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from the University of Houston.
