“One’s socio-economic status at birth should not determine one’s fate in life.”
– Personal motto
John De La Cruz comes to Houston A+ Challenge with nine years of experience in education. For the past two years, John has served as an Assistant Principal at Milby High School in Houston ISD. Prior to that, he spent seven years in Pasadena ISD as a classroom teacher, a peer facilitator and a grant program director. Before becoming an educator, John spent 10 years working in the criminal justice field for a county agency that worked closely with the judicial authorities. This experience provided him with a unique perspective on the options faced by individuals when education options are limited. John holds a bachelor’s degree in History, a master’s degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction, and a Principal’s Certification – all from the University of Houston. His wife Alicia and his son Cody have been supportive throughout his development and growth as a professional.
