Deborah J. Mitchell has 18 years of experience as an educator in schools ranging from elementary to higher education, in jobs including curriculum and assessment writer, district/regional trainer, state assessment review committee member, teacher and department chair. Most recently, she served as the campus science specialist for Harris, Raymond and Smith Academies in Aldine ISD. Deborah holds a principal certification, and received her her master’s degree in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University and her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biology from Jarvis Christian College. A native of Mound Bayou, Mississippi, Deborah got an early start in school as one of the first members of the Head Start Program. She is a third generation educator who began her teaching career at Simeon Vocational High School in Chicago, IL. She has served as a chemistry and biology teacher at Kashmere, Jefferson Davis and Lamar high schools in Houston ISD, and science department chair at Shotwell Middle School in Aldine ISD.
