Application Deadline: October 8th

This 40-hour training will prepare teachers, administrators and other educators to lead and participate in more effective and productive professional learning communities.

During the interactive sessions, participants will learn how to use Critical Friends Group protocols to:

  • look for evidence of learning through observation of student work
  • help team members analyze and evaluate their classroom lessons and school improvement plans
  • reflect on their own strengths and challenges as educators
  • provide constructive, meaningful input on colleagues' dilemmas

These "difficult conversations" are made easier through the use of CFG protocols that are designed to give all members of the learning community a safe space to share their perspectives.

After completing the 40-hour training, participants are enrolled as members of the National School Reform Faculty, which created the Critical Friends Group framework.

Since 1999, Houston A+ Challenge has been the region's leading provider of Critical Friends Group training, and an official center of activity for the National School Reform Faculty. We have trained more than 1,000 educators to become CFG coaches on their campuses. The training provides a foundation for all of our school improvement work. We hope you will join us!

Cost: $1,200 per coach
