“Externship Program”

KTRH: Houston area teachers turn the tables and become students for a week. KTRH’s  Pat Hernandez says it’s part of bridging the gap between the classroom and the work place. The fourth Annual Externship program connects 111 teachers with over 60 businesses and organizations.

Michele Pola: “It’s very different from how they got into the teaching profession.”

KTRH: Michele Pola, Executive Director of Houston A + Challenge an independent, public, private education organization says it’s the application of instruction in the workplace.

Michele Pola: “Many teachers have not had first hand experience on how their content is acquired in the work environment.”

KTRH: Pola says it’s a win-win for teachers on what they need to equip students to deal with and for executives to understand the challenges and preparing modern students for business.
