Educators, Parents Take STAAR Testing Challenges and Concerns to Austin

As Texas students prepare to take the rigorous STAAR and End Of Course exams for the first time this spring, Houston A+ Challenge was among the many organizations and individuals who visited Austin last month to let legislators know how the new system, which will replace TAKS, is impacting schools and students.
Starting with this year's freshman class, the EOC tests will count for 15% of a student's class grade -- so district-level interpretation of the new state standardized testing laws will have a real and immediate impact on students for the first time.
