Co-Author of the Award-Winning
"
Understanding by Design" Series

April 23-24, 2007

Join Houston A+ Challenge for our ongoing National Speaker Series, when Grant Wiggins will discuss:

  • Why excellence in schooling requires a vigilant focus on learning for understanding -- not just teaching to the test.

  • How all education reform is local. There is no one-size-fits-all solution.

  • How to motivate and challenge students through genuine intellectual purposes.

  • Why education succeeds only if everyone in schools gets constant and powerful feedback -- and is obligated to seek and consider it.

Grant Wiggins will present this free lecture, which is open to the public:

Monday, April 23, 2007
4:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Grant Wiggins is president of Authentic Education in Hopewell, New Jersey, and is perhaps best known as co-author, with Jay McTighe, of Understanding by Design and The Understanding by Design Handbook, the award-winning and highly successful materials on curriculum.

Grant Wiggins consults with schools, districts and state education departments on a variety of reform matters; organizes conferences and workshops; and develops print materials and Web resources on curricular change. He earned his Ed.D. from Harvard University and his B. A. from St. John's College in Annapolis.
